A whistleblower may find something genuinely wrong or they may be just drawing false attention to prove a point. For the law to believe a whistleblower, she or he should prove that the organization has violated employment laws. There are two kinds of whistle blowers. The internal whistle blowers work within the organization and bring up issues that relate to their own working conditions. They typically report misconduct of other employees or even people in seniority. If the company has a proper complain addressing department, then the whistleblower may approach them.
An external whistleblower is anyone who reports the misdoings of government agencies, people or entities and also any organization including their own. They may report to lawyers, media, law enforcement agencies and watchdog agencies.
There is an argument about the whistleblowers where some people believe that an employee who behaves in such a manner does not protect the disclosure agreement and while others argue that the retaliation will not affect whistleblowers.
If the whistleblower is doing without a valid reason, then it is considered as fraud by the law and she or he may be prosecuted. For example, a person cannot raise a false issue of discrimination only because they have been denied an opportunity. They are required to take up their case individually and should not raise an issue by influencing others using their own problem.
