Examples Of A Whistleblower

An employee who spreads rumors about the wrongdoing of the organization or the people at the organizations is called as a Whistleblower.

The rumors may be true or false, but if a person does not take the right way to address the issue and is actually influencing others about the same thing, the act is called whistle blowing. It is a violation of employment laws and is considered as committing fraud legally. The company may never know what the whistleblowers intentions are and if they let it go, they may fall prey to a huge scam. That is why to protect the interests of the company, this act ensures that people who are whistleblowers can be prosecuted by law.

The name whistleblower is used because the person is calling for attention. The term is derived from the policemen attitude because cops in England used to blow whistles to get someone’s attention. It is nothing but an attention seeking methodology used by someone to satisfy their selfish motives. Using others for doing it is wrong. For example, if a person has been denied a promotion is the job and another colleague was deemed fit, then if this person takes up the attitude of blaming the company policies on the grounds of discrimination the act is called whistle blowing.

The person always has an option of speaking with the HR and also letting them know that she or he feels discriminated. Instead if they discuss it with their coworkers, then they are influencing them and causing them to think in a similar fashion.
