History of Social Entrepreneur:
“Social Entrepreneur” and “Social Entrepreneurship” were first described during 1960 – 1970. In 1980 – 1990s, the terms became widely used and promated by Bill Drayton and Moss Kanter. Even though the terms are relatively new, the concept of social entrepreneurship has been practiced through out the history. For instance, some of the most successful social entrepreneurs promoted today ideas of public services in healthcare, schools, and welfare.
Current Practice Of Social Entrepreneurship:
In a present day, social entrepreneurs emphasized the importance of synergies and benefits of social ventures and business principles. In many countries, social entrepreneurs work closely with public organizations at both local and national level. Some may create profit organization. Although, the venture is for profit, it is also designed to help make social change. Today, There are many organizations such as nonprofits and non-governmental organizations, foundations, governments that can advise social entrepreneurs around the planet. A growing number of colleges and universities are establishing programs focused on educating and training social entrepreneurs.
