Facts About Solar Energy
Solar energy is not a new concept. Humans have been trying to use the power of the sun for thousands of years and will continue to do so. However, in modern days, solar energy technology has made a lot of advancements and it now possible to harness the power of the sun with relative ease, although the actual cost can still be expensive. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy is produced both naturally and in man-made operations under control. Natural nuclear energy is produced when the Sun and other stars make heat and light by nuclear reactions. Man made nuclear energy is produced in nuclear reactors, nuclear power plants and from atomic and hydrogen bombs. |

There are advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy and many people are unaware of them. Here we will discus them both and you can then conclude whether nuclear energy is good or bad.
Advantages of Nuclear Energy:
- Nuclear power energy emits low amounts of carbon dioxide and this means that nuclear energy emits very little green house gases and its contribution to global warming is limited.
- The technology for power generation through nuclear energy is readily available and can tackle the worsening power situation around the globe.
- It is possible to generate high amounts of electrical energy in a single nuclear power plant at any given time.
Disadvantages of Nuclear Energy:
- The radioactive waste generated from nuclear energy is extremely dangerous and toxic. The world has not figured out a safe method to dispose of it.
- Despite high security and safety, no nuclear energy plant is 100 percent safe. Accidents do happen and consequences to human life and nature are devastating. For example, the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl incidents.
- Nuclear power plants can be potential targets for terrorist attacks and this would prove to be catastrophic.
- Energy source for nuclear energy is uranium and this element is in scarcity. It is estimated that the supply of uranium will last just for the next 30 to 60 years depending on the actual demand.
- Because of the planning and formalities involved, it takes around 20 to 30 years to build a nuclear power plant. The possibility of building a new power plant in a short period of time is highly remote.
